Patricia: As long as Lionel Luthor's alive, he's a threat to you. Lionel: Let the whole business rest in peace. Shows that Lex will finally trump his father and take his place.ĭialogue also foreshadowed Lionel's death. Is it just me or does this shot seem awfully similar to the shot of Lex, standing near a broken window at Luthorcorp that might be from "Veritas"? The spoilers we've gotten for that episode say that Lionel, supposedly, meets his end when Lex throws him out of a window, which makes this shot from "Traveler", one episode prior, very chilling to me. That's a long time for Lionel to have been deceiving EVERYONE and doing it all offscreen.Ĭhloe's getting really good at figuring out where the superpowered are being held from judging the location just by the specs of the materials (like she does in "Justice", when trying to locate Bart). Lionel? Dude? What are you doing? Making a Kryptonite cage to hold Clark? That kind of came out of nowhere, but I guess we're supposed to assume that he's been planning this for a while since he started it since he found out about Clark, which, dates back to S5. Not that Martha would have shot Kryptonite darts at her son.Brainiac would, though :) Um, Lana? Martha and Brainiac know about Clark's weakness and they ain't in the room. Lana: As far as we know, everyone that knows about Clark's weakness is in this room. With Chloe, he's all business, but with Lana, she was a member of his family and wife to his son, therefore, making it justified that he would be on first-name basis with her. I enjoy that Lionel calls Lana, "Lana" and Chloe, "Miss Sullivan". Love this shot! Reminds me of the beginning of "Tempest". I want to believe Lionel changed because there are times when he seems really genuine, but then, the show has also told us that you can't change you who are, so maybe once a MB, always a MB?Ĭracks me up that people kept referring to "Veritas" as an "Astronomy Club". Even if Lionel thought he was doing good, he had caused the deaths of people and ruined lives to have the "Traveler" at his disposal, thereby, making him a villain.Ĭlark: Lex and Lionel are only capable of doing the right thing if it benefits them. I guess Patricia is right in the fact that Lionel does what he needs to do to have Clark all for himself. I'm mixed about Lionel, old daddy Luthor, because sometimes, he's good to Clark and looking out for his best interests, and in other times, he's doing selfish, terrible thinks to get what he wants. That Kara has no idea who she is and trusts the wrong person, but when given her memory back, she fully embraces who she is and who her allies are. That Chloe is a human Jor-El trusts because she loves his son.Īside from the Big 3, it told us other significant things about the bigger characters. That Lex is willing to have childhood friends murdered and is a wolf in sheep's clothing when he wants something. "Traveler" emphasized that Clark was the alien who comes to Earth for good and to make a change. That's your basic foundations for a Superman story and we've had those since day one. We have a superhero, a villain, and a newspaper reporter / love interest. Some folks make the claim all the time that the Superman story isn't NOW because Clark isn't wearing the cape and because Lex is still a wuss, thereby, making ED's Lois look okay in comparison that she is a talentless moron who lies, cheats, and steals her way into The Daily Planet. Chiri_chan and I were chatting it up yesterday, joking about how "Superman is NOW" on Smallville, which is so true.
